Raiders Overpowered by Hubbard & MRA


The JA Raiders met MRA in the Semifinals of the 5A State Basketball Tournament in McComb at Parklane Academy on Friday night. The Raiders and Patriots had a close first quarter that featured six lead changes before MRA claimed the lead with back-to-back three pointers from Josh Hubbard, in fact Hubbard scored thirteen of the fifteen first quarter points for MRA. The second quarter was very similar as Hubbard added thirteen more to push the lead out to fourteen at the halftime break. The Raiders trimmed it to eleven before the Patriots went on a 24-9 run to close out the third quarter. Hubbard finished with 32 points in just 22 minutes of action as MRA won 74-45 and advanced to the State Championship Game against Jackson Prep, Saturday at 7:15pm. The Raiders fell to 21-13 on the season and will face Presbyterian Christian School tomorrow at 6pm in an elimination game for the right to advance to the MAIS Overall Tournament next week at Mississippi College.
