JA Wins Turnover Battle


Jackson Academy got back into conference play as they hosted Presbyterian Christian School at The Brickyard. The Raiders were looking for their fifth straight win over the Bobcats in the sixteenth meeting between the two teams.

The Raiders got off to a hot start by scoring on three of their first four drives and all of them came by way of a PCS turnover. Deion Smith scored the first two TDs in two different ways, 55 yard run and a 23 yard reception from Jackson Conn. His brother Dan Smith scored the other TD on a 36 yard jet sweep to put the Raiders up by three touchdowns. The two teams traded scored right before halftime which gave JA a 28-7 lead at the break.

After halftime the Raiders and Bobcats played the back and forth TD game as they both scored 28 points in the third and fourth quarters combined. Conn finished 11-for-16 for 187 yards and 2 TDs. Marcus Harris ran the ball 19 times for 192 yards and 2 TDs. Deion ran the ball three times for 72 yards and 2 TDs and hauled in 6 catches for 107 yards and 1 TD.

Defensive leaders for the game for JA were Ethan Archie as he led the game with 15 tackles (12 solo), and 2 TFL. Caleb Hernandez tallied 14 tackles (9 Solo). Max Walenta also finished with 14 tackles (5 solo), and a tackle for loss. Donovan Veasley picked up 11 tackles (4 Solo) and a forced fumble. Adams Kennedy also had 11 tackles (5 Solo) with 1 sack and 3 TFL.

JA will head to Starkville next Friday night as they take on the Volunteers at 7pm. Pregame on The Raider Network will begin at 6:30pm
