Volleyball, Softball, Soccer & JV Football

The schedule makers decided today would be a heavy dose of Jackson Academy vs Hartfield Academy as they faced off in three different sports, two of them taking place in Flowood. JA Volleyball was one of the two on the road as they swept both JV and Varsity matches 2-0 and 3-0. The Middle School Teams played earlier in the week with the B-Team winning 2-0 and the A-Team losing 2-0. The Varsity Lady Raiders improved their overall record to 26-6 with their tenth straight win and moved to 15-0 against MAIS competition without a single dropped set. The Lady Raiders will travel to Southaven on Friday and Saturday as they take part in the DeSoto Central Mid-South Classic.

Lady Raider Soccer was the other team in Flowood as they looked to continue their winning ways. The Lady Hawks had other ideas as they took both games and halted the Lady Raider win streak in the process. The Varsity Lady Raiders had their twelve match win streak snapped with a 3-1 loss as their record fell to 12-2-1. The JV Lady Raiders lost 2-0. Next up the Lady Raiders head to Madison to face MRA in JV and Varsity action.

Lady Raider Softball was the only sport not facing off against Hartfield as they were at Liberty Park taking on MRA in Softball action. The Varsity Lady Raiders lost 16-6 and the JV Lady Raiders lost 8-4. They will return to Raider Park to face MRA on Monday.

The JV Football teams wrapped up the busy athletic day by hosting Hartfield Academy. The B-Team won their fourth straight game to start the season at 4-0, with a 30-6 victory. The JV Raiders had their biggest challenge of the early season as they led just 7-0 heading into the 4th quarter. After Hartfield tied the game at 7-7, Omarean Ellis broke off a 76 yard TD run to put JA up 14-7. JA forced a turnover on the next Hawks series and capitalized on the miscue with a 44 yard TD run by AJ Parker to lead 21-7. Hartfield did score on their next drive and grab the ensuing onside kick before another Raider interception in the end zone iced the game with under a minute to play. Next Thursday they will travel to McComb to face Parklane Academy.
