Raiders Season Finale

The Jackson Academy JV Football Teams concluded the season in Flowood as they took on Jackson Prep in three games at Patriot Field. The 7th Grade Team, which only has 15 members, fought hard and experienced their first loss of the season as they came up short 20-6 and had their Overall Record finish at 4-1-1. The 8th Grade Team beat Prep earlier this season 22-6, but in the second meeting they got wrapped up in a defensive struggle and finished the game in a 6-6 tie. Their final record was 2-1-1.

The JV Football Team also got caught up in a defensive battle as the game remained scoreless through the first half. Then with just over two minutes remaining in the third quarter the Patriots got a 58-yard TD reception from Win Crosby on an up-for-grabs ball that dropped right into his hands. The Raiders responded with an 8-yard TD run from Joshua Ficklin to tie the game 7-7 with just over 7 minutes left in the game. The defensive struggle resumed until late in the game when Prep connected on a 40-yard hail mary that was caught at the 2-yard line by Price Perkins. The Patriots got the go-ahead score from Owen Ishee with 1:02 left in the game. JA mounted a drive that was stopped with an interception at the Prep 24-yard line. The final record for the JV Raiders was 6-2.
