Lady Raiders Beat Parklane

JV Cruises - Varsity Holds On


The Lady Raiders completed their conference action in McComb, MS on Friday night as they took on Parklane Academy. Due to a Varsity injury Coach Bruce Allsup was forced to limit some of his JV girls minutes so he could have them available for the Varsity game as well. The JV Lady Raiders took full advantage as they raced out to a 17-4 lead after a quarter and led 31-14 at halftime. Emily Buchanan had another impressive outing as she scored 17 points while Ava Ladner chipped in 8 points in a 52-16 victory improving their record to 12-2 overall and 4-0 in conference play.

The Varsity Lady Raiders looked to have the game in hand in the first half leading by as many as twelve on multiple occasions. But the Lady Pioneers and things interesting in the second half as they went on a 9-0 run to close the gap to 42-40. The Lady Raiders were able to close the door on the comeback as Reeves Stratton scored the final eight points of the game to close out the Lady Pioneers 50-40. Emily Thompson added 12 points while six other Lady Raiders got involved as well helping JA move to 19-5 overall and 3-0 in conference play. JA concludes the week by stepping out of conference to host Brookhaven Academy on Saturday with the JV at 3:00pm and Varsity at 5:30pm.

Reeves Stratton - the senior had a game high 18 points (5-14 FG, 8-10 FT), grabbed 4 rebounds, 7 assists and 3 steals in 25 minutes of action.
