Rally Attempts Come Up Short


The Raiders finished off their four game in five day stretch by hosting Madison Ridgeland Academy at The Raider Dome on Tuesday night. The JV matchup featured a pair of unbeaten in conference play teams. The JV Boys were able to get out in front 6-2 halfway through the first quarter before the Patriots went on a 11-2 run to close out the first eight minutes. MRA stretched their lead to seven at the half and made it 25-17 at the end of the third quarter. The Raiders managed to trim the deficit to three but MRA held on for a 32-25 victory. The loss snapped the Raiders six game win streak and dealt them their first conference loss of the season as they fell to 13-4 overall and 4-1 in conference play.

The Varsity Raiders nearly got run out of the gym early as MRA started the game on a 15-5 run and led by ten twice in the first quarter. After JA trimmed the MRA lead to three before MRA went on a 22-9 run to close out the half leading 40-24. The Patriots increased their lead to as many as 22 in the third quarter before JA began their big comeback. The Raiders went on a 27-11 run to close the gap to six with just over a minute left in the game. The Patriots managed to hold off the the Raiders as they won 59-51. The Raiders fell to 16-8 overall and 2-2 in conference play. JA will wrap up Rivalry week as they host Prep on Friday.
