Raiders Beat Colonels

JV & Varsity Take Care of Business

The Raiders started up a two-game week by hosting Copiah Academy at The Raider Dome on Tuesday night. The JV Raiders were trying to stop a two-game losing skid as they hosted the Colonels in conference play. The Raiders handled the Colonels three weeks ago in Gallman and this game would mirror that one as JA won easily 59-27. Mason Shoemaker had a big game as he scored a game high 19 points, while Merritt Nations added 11 and Drake Lester chipped in ten points to help the Raiders improve to 15-4 overall and 5-2 in conference play.

The Varsity Raiders held a 19 point halftime lead the last time they face the Colonels only to see them close the game to within three in the last seconds before JA held on for then 75-72 win. Tonight the two teams were separated by just a single point at halftime before the Raiders outscored Copiah 38-20 in the second half to win convincingly 60-41. Four different Raiders finished in double figures as Nick Bryan paced the Raiders with 14, Henry Lee added 13, while Will Travelstead and Wenton Walker added 10 each. The victory helped JA push their overall record to 18?9 overall and their conference mark to 4-2. JA will travel to Hattiesburg to play PCS on Friday. JV starts at 5:15pm with the Varsity following at 8:00pm
