Lady Raiders Sweep Lady Bobcats


The Lady Raiders traveled to Hattiesburg for their second meeting of the season with the Lady Bobcats of Presbyterian Christian School. The JV Lady Raiders got off to a slow start as they trailed 5-3 until they closed out the first quarter on a 14-0 run to carry a 17-5 lead into the second quarter. The Lady Bobcats put the clamps down defensively holding JA to just 2 points in the second as they trimmed the lead to 19-10 at halftime. The second half saw the Lady Raiders wake back up on the offensive side as they outscored PCS by eleven and won 39-19 winning both games against the Lady Bobcats and improving their overall mark to 16-3 and 7-1 in conference play.

In Varsity action, the Lady Raiders were in a back and forth game to start before they went on a big run right before halftime that extended into the third quarter as they turned a two point game into a 46-22 lead after three quarters. Emily Thompson and NaeNae Ellis each chipped in 10 points each to help pace the Lady Raiders as they improved to 23-6 overall and 6-1 in conference play. JA will return to The Raider Dome on Tuesday night for Senior Night as they host Copiah Academy for the second time this season. JV will start at 4:00pm with the Varsity Lady Raiders playing at 6:30pm.
