Raiders Finish Season in Style
The Raiders finished up the regular season by celebrating their seven seniors in style with a 8-0 victory over Parklane Academy and five of the goals came from the senior class. The win secured the #1 seed for the JA Raiders in the State Tournament next week which earned them a bye in the first round and an automatic spot int he semifinals. That also means the Raiders will finish the year at The Brickyard since it is now the host site as well for the State Championship match next Saturday.
JA got on the board early and often scoring three goals in the first twelve minutes of the match by Rush Baldwin, Steven Chustz and Emery Thigpen. Then during stoppage time in the first half Will Rhodes added one more to give JA a 4-0 halftime lead. In the second half the seniors got involved again as Ja?Ree Myers, and Bonner Dinkins scored to help push the lead to 7-0 before Baldwin stopped the match with the eighth goal of the night at the 76th minute. JA finished the regular season with a 15-1 record and a conference record of 9-1. They also finished 9-1 at The Brickyard.
A day after having their thirteen match win streak snapped the JV Raiders responded in fine fashion with a 4-1 victory over Parklane Academy to close out their season with a very successful 14-1 record as they outscored their competition 71-7 and finished with an impressive 10 shutouts.
JA will start play in the State Tournament next week against the winner of PCS and Copiah.
