Lady Raiders Denied Title Game

The JA Lady Raiders were looking for an opportunity to win a fifth consecutive State Championship as they took on Jackson Prep in the Semifinals of the 5A State Basketball Tournament in McComb at Parklane Academy on Friday afternoon. The Lady Raiders and Lady Patriots started the game on fire as they both combined to score 24 points on 9-for-17 shooting and 5-of-9 from the three-point line as JA led 13-11. The second quarter was the complete opposite as the two teams combined to go 2-for-23 from the field and only score a total of seven points as Prep took a one point lead into the half. The third quarter was the difference in the ballgame as Prep shot 8-for-12 from the floor while the Lady Raiders went just 3-for-10 and fell behind by eleven heading into the final frame. The Lady Patriots kept their distance and advanced to the State Championship Game against MRA, Saturday at 2:15pm.
