Lady Raiders Top Parklane

JA Headed Back To Overall Tourney

For the first time in five years JA was not playing for a State Championship today, so they would have to beat Parklane Academy, on their own floor, to advance to the MAIS Overall Tournament next week at Mississippi College for the fifth straight season. The game began with a series of runs as JA raced out to a 9-2 lead before Parklane closed it to 9-7. Then the Lady Raiders pulled back in front by seven with a 7-2 run to close the quarter. The second quarter was all about Nae Nae Ellis as she scored eleven of the sixteen for JA, including the last nine to help push the Lady Raider lead to 32-15 at the halftime break.

The second half saw the Lady Pioneers close to within nine at the start of the fourth quarter and got the game as close as six before JA pulled away with a 50-42 victory and a third place finish in the MAIS 5A State Tournament. Emma Roberts and Nae Tae Ellis were both recognized as a part of the All-Tournament Team.

University Heart Player with The Most Heart
Nae Nae Ellis - picked up a double-double with 19 points (8-12 FG, 3-7 FT) and 10 rebounds off the bench for the Lady Raiders.
