Raiders Run Over Mustangs

Pogue Era Opens with Victory

Jackson Academy opened up the Lance Pogue era in style with a 49-14 blowout win over Pillow Academy at The Brickyard. Offense, Defense and Special Teams were nearly flawless as they held the Mustangs to just 107 yards of total offense on the night.

Jackson Conn made his first Varsity start a memorable one as he scored the first TD of 2020 on a 29-yard touchdown run just moments after scrambling for a 21yard run to pick up a first down on a 3rd and 21. Conn added another TD run in the second quarter to give JA a 14-0 lead as he ran in from 22 yards out. JA would score on their next four chances as Marcus Harris scored twice (30yd and 1yd) on the ground while Conn found Trey Adams from 40 yards away for his second varsity passing TD. On defense Donovan Veasley, also coming back from an injury that kept him out of last season, grabbed a fumble at the 28 yard line and ran it in for a defensive score.

Pillow would get on the scoreboard against the second defensive unit from 70yards out by Gavin Lesley. Then they ended the game with an 87-yard kickoff return for the final margin.

JA will travel to Madden, MS to face Leake Academy next Friday night at Thaggard Field at 7pm. Pregame on The Raider Network will begin at 6:45pm
