Harris Reaches 2,000 Career Yards

Jackson Academy returned to conference play on the road in Amite City, LA, Friday night, as they faced Oak Forest Academy in the 11th meeting between the two schools. The Yellow Jackets were playing in just their second game of the season after finally being told they could play by the state of Louisiana. After forcing a turnover on downs on the first Oak Forest possession, the Raiders marched the ball down the field on 9 plays covering 74 yards and capped off by the first Marcus Harris touchdown run of the night. During that first possession, Marcus became the sixth Raider to rush for 2,000 yards in his career. The Raiders would score on the next two possessions as well as Jackson Conn made his return after a game absence due to injury. He connected twice with Dan Smith on touchdowns of 24 and 49 yards to help give JA a 21-0 halftime lead.

The Raiders would add three touchdown drives in the second half. Harris scored twice in the third quarter from 3 yards out and the most impressive run of 46 yards on his final score of the night. Clayton White floated one to Trey Adams from 20 yards out in the back of the end zone to cap the scoring as JA rolled to a 42-7 victory to even up their conference record at 1-1, while improving their overall mark to 3-2.

Two Raiders stood out on defense as Caleb Hernandez once again led the team with 13 tackles (7 solo), 1 sack and TFL. Donovan Veasley finished with 9 tackles (6 solo), and a tackle for loss. Lardarius Webb, Jr., Simms Baker and Ethan Archie each tallied 7 tackles to help pace the Raider defense.

JA returns home to The Brickyard next Friday night as they take on Pelahatchie High School for Homecoming 2020 at 7pm. Pregame on The Raider Network will begin at 6:40pm
