Homecoming 2020
Raiders Win Third Straight
Jackson Academy celebrated Homecoming 2020 on Friday night at The Brickyard, as they welcomed Pelahatchie High School in the second meeting between the two schools and the 41st Homecoming game for the Raiders. JA moved their record on Homecoming night to 36-5 with their second shutout of the season, a 41-0 victory.
The Raiders won the coin toss and deferred their decision to the second half and let their defense set the stage. And they did a great job of that, as on the third play of the game, Trey Adams had his second pick six of the season to give JA a 7-0 lead in less than 90 seconds of game action. The Raiders would score on their next four possessions and carry a 35-0 lead into the locker room at the half. Marcus Harris tallied touchdown runs of 6 yards and 14 yards. Jackson Conn found Deion Smith on touchdown catches of 50 and 14 yards.
At halftime, Meredith Fielder was crowned Homecoming Queen by last year's Queen - Kennedy Nations. JA Alum, Cameron Albriton of Albriton's Jewelers, provided Meredith with the crown and a pair of pearl earrings.
The second half was very brief with the running clock rule in effect. The Raiders did manage one more score as Clayton White found Dan Smith from 19 yards out for his third touchdown in a Raider uniform. With their third straight win, JA improved their record to 4-2.
Defensive leaders for the game for JA were Caleb Hernandez as he once again led the team with 10 tackles (8 solo), 1 sack and4 TFL. Ethan Archie tallied 7 tackles (5 Solo), 3 TFL and his first sack of the season. Donovan Veasley also finished with 7 tackles (5 solo), and a tackle for loss.
JA makes the short trip to Flowood next Friday night as they take on Jackson Prep at 7pm. Pregame on The Raider Network will begin at 6:30pm
