JA Loses First Game of Season

The Raiders traveled to Madison to begin conference play with the MRA Patriots as they met for the 45th time in the series on Friday night. The Patriots were looking to extend a four game win streak over the Raiders and they got the scoring started in the first quarter with a Tylor Latham 1 yard TD run. The Raiders responded in the second quarter with a Tate Collins 25 yard pass to Merritt Nations to knot the score at 7-7, which was the difference at halftime. JA actually led in total yardage at the break 158 to 139, but the second half was a different story.

The Patriots held the Raiders to a quick three-and-out to start the second half and wasted no time as they marched the ball 73 yards down the field on 7 plays and took back the lead 14-7, capped off by a Davis Dalton 42yd TD. JA would then turn the next drive over on downs and MRA put it in the end zone again as Dalton scored from 38 yards out. MRA wound up scoring on their next two drives as well to seal the win 35-7.

Offensive Leaders: Tate Collins finished 5-for-20 for 82 yards and 1 TD, and had 23 carries for 85 yards. Merritt Nations, grabbed 2 passes for 53 yards and 1 TD. Denym Mitchell had 10 carries for 54 yards

Defensive Leaders: Banks Whittington for the third straight game led the Raiders with 11 tackles (7 solo) and a TFL. Trey Adams tallied 8 tackles (5 Solo), and a pass break up. Ethan Archie, Porter Harrell Max Walenta and Adams Kennedy all finished with 7 tackles respectively.

JA heads to Greenwood for another non-conference matchup against Pillow Academy with a 7pm kickoff. Pregame on The Raider Network will begin at 6:40pm
