The Lady Raiders opened the season at Newton High School on Saturday with a matchup against the host Lady Tigers. The game got off to a fast start for Newton as they led 6-0. JA fought back with an impressive 20-4 run to close out the first quarter with a ten point lead. Newton fought back in the 2nd quarter and trimmed the lead to three at halftime. In the third the Lady Tigers reclaimed the lead only to see JA tie it late in the frame at 42-42 as they headed to the fourth quarter. JA started the fourth quarter with a 9-0 run and never allowed Newton back in the game as they finished off the contest with an eleven point win, 61-50.
