Three Lady Raiders Sign
VOLLEYBALL: Carnathan, Jones & Sheffield
For the second week in a row Jackson Academy had a banner day for the Class of 2022 on Monday as three more seniors signed papers that will be allow them to continue their academic and athletic careers next year at Austin Peay State University and Mississippi College. These are the fifth, sixth and seventh athletic signings for this school year and these three ladies helped lead JA to their third consecutive State Championship last year by not dropping a single set in MAIS play. Each one of these ladies were also recently selected to the All-MAIS Volleyball Division 1 Team and AVCA All Region High School team.
Sarah Carnathan - the daughter of Don and Pam Carnathan. Sarah was a member this year of the Varsity team and has been playing volleyball for 7 years. She led the team in blocks with 82. She is also is the current MAIS State High Jump Champion and she finished 3rd in Long Jump last year. She set a new JA High Jump record in her first year as a Raider. Sarah is committed to play volleyball at Austin Peay State University where she plans to major in Kinesiology. She will also play beach volleyball and high jump for the Governors.
Remy Jones - the daughter of Amber and Karl Jones. She has been on the Varsity team for 4 years and has been playing volleyball for 7 years and received the Raider Award this year. She recently became the second Lady Raider to achieve 1,000 digs in her career and she is 2nd all time in school history with 1,162 digs. Last year she received the -Julie Dyer Leadership Scholarship. Remy is committed to play volleyball at Mississippi College where she will pursue Pre-Dental.
Anna Claire Sheffield - the daughter of Richard and Kathy Sheffield. She has been on the Varsity team for 4 years and a member of JA volleyball for 7 years and also received the Raider Award this year. She led the team her sophomore and junior year in blocks and is second all time in school history with 252 blocks behind Conley Chinn. Anna Claire is committed to to play volleyball at Mississippi College where she also plans to major in Social Work.
