JA Beats Ingomar 49-48


The Lady Raiders hosted Ingomar on Saturday at The Raider Dome after a thrilling overtime win over PCS on Friday night. This was the first meeting between these two teams in four years and both are defending State Champions. The game lived up to the hype for sure with 10 ties and 12 lead changes throughout the contest. JA led by three at the end of the first quarter but Ingomar came back to tie it at the half. JA led the bulk of the second half and even increased their lead to seven in the fourth quarter before the Lady Falcons went on a 12-4 run to take a one point lead with three minutes remaining. JA ran some clock and got a three pointer from Emily Buchanan to give them a 47-45 lead. JA then forced multiple turnovers but missed the front ends of two one-and-one opportunities. Macie Phifer ran the floor and scored a quick two while drawing a foul and converting the free throw to give Ingomar a one point lead with 12 seconds left. JA got the ball down the floor and called timeout with 5 seconds remaining. On the ensuing inbounds play Cha'Myrean Ellis grabbed the inbounds pass from Addison Comer and scored to give JA the win 49-48. Ellis, Carmichael and Buchanan combined to score 40 of the Lady Raiders 49 points and improved to 19-7. The JV Lady Raiders dropped their game 38-28 and fell to 14-4 on the season.
