Raiders Ground the Hawks

Dakota Jordan - 2 HR, 7 RBI

The Raiders were in Flowood at Hawk Field on Tuesday night for the first game of their third Conference Series of the year. With the wind howling in from center field, Dakota Jordan defied the wind and blasted a two-run homer to put the Raiders up early. Hartfield responded in the bottom of the 2nd to tie the game on a pair of unearned runs. The Hawks took the lead 3-2 in the bottom of the fourth inning but the Raiders responded. The first three batters reached to start the inning as Dakota stepped to the plate. He delivered again as he launched his first Grand Slam of the year to give JA back a 6-3 lead. The Hawks threatened to retake the lead in the bottom of the frame but the JA defense of Cade Breland, Garrett Smith and Davis Lee turned a 4-6-3 double play to end the inning. JA tacked on four insurance runs in the sixth from Jordan (RBI single), JT Thigpen (2 RBI Double) and Joseph Ciaccio (RBI Groundout). Thigpen drove in two more in the seventh to provide the final margin of 11-5. Cade Gadman pitched well in his first quality start for JA this year in just his second start of the season, while Bennett Brooks tossed the final three frames for the save. JA and Hartfield will play again on Thursday at Raider Park in a conference doubleheader.
