Lady Raider Tennis - Champs Again

On Wednesday at The Ridgeland Tennis Center the MAIS held their annual Tennis Boys and Girls State Championships. The Lady Raiders and Raiders were well represented as they held the #1 seeds in all four Girls Events (Singles and Doubles), while the Boys had three #2 seeds and one #3 seed. The Mixed Doubles pairing also held a #2 seed. Jackson Academy had seven finalists (out of a possible nine) competing for State Titles.

Here were the results from those matches:
Girls #1 Singles - Emma Roberts defeated London Breedlove (MRA) 6-3, 6-2 (State Champion)
Girls #2 Singles - Elena Roberts defeated Sara Scott Gideon (Prep) 6-0, 6-0 (State Champion)
Girls #1 Doubles - Lailaa Bashir and Emory Laseter defeated Madeline Claire Hughes/Emma Dye (Prep) 6-1, 6-0 (State Champion)
Girls #2 Doubles - Caroline Hill and Emily Buchanan defeated Madi Conerly/Lily Flowers (Prep) 6-1, 6-0 (State Champion)
Boys #2 Singles - Sam Chustz lost to Lytle Moore (Prep) 6-0, 6-1 (State Runner-Up)
Boys #1 Doubles - Turner Willson and Steven Chustz lost to Andrew Sweat/Ethan Aldridge (Prep) 6-1, 6-3 (State Runner-Up)
Boys #2 Doubles - Harris McLemore and Drake Lester lost to Neil Marchetti/Louis Gatlin (Prep) 6-1, 6-2 (State Runner-Up)

The JA Girls Team won the State Championship for the fifth consecutive season (2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019) and their eleventh State Title in Program history. The JA Boys Team finished as the State Runner-Up. These results all after 13 seniors graduated from last year's programs. Congratulations JA Tennis!!!
