The Raider Dome was active on Thursday as it hosted six different basketball games and another electrifying performance by The Little Dribblers. The day started off with two 7th Grade games that were both won by JA. The 7th Grade Girls won 34-10 while the 7th Grade Boys were victorious 49-22. The JV Girls game was back and forth as Brookhaven took a one point lead with 38 seconds remaining. JA got a layup from Mylee Maurer to give JA back the lead and held their breath as a last second heave by the Lady Cougars bounced off into the hands of Maurer to secure the win. That improved their record to 8-3 overall. In JV Boys action the Raiders turned a close game at halftime into a rout in the second half as they outscored the Cougars 33-6 in the second half to win 66-30 and move their record to 9-2 with their third straight win.

The Varsity Girls game began with an impressive 14-0 run by the Lady Raiders, but it was answered by Brookhaven as they closed the gap to one at halftime with a 19-5 run by making five three pointers. The third quarter was when the Lady Cougars pulled out in front and never looked back dealing JA a tough 44-36 loss at home dropping their record to 5-9. The Varsity Boys was lopsided from the beginning as JA ran off 48 first half points and led by 38 at halftime. Mike Williams led all scorers with 18, while Marcus Goodloe chipped in 11.

The Varsity Boys will be in Southaven tomorrow as they battle Starkville High School in the Shan Whiteside Sideline Cancer Classic at DeSoto Central High School. Both teams will play next Saturday (December 23rd) in the BA$$A Holiday Invitational at Mississippi College. Girls will play at 11:30am against Callaway while the Boys will play at 2:30pm against Pascagoula. The tournament organizer does not allow streaming so neither game will air live on The Raider Network.
