Career High for Mike Williams


The Raiders traveled to DeSoto Central High School in Southaven on Friday as they were a late addition to the Shan Whiteside Sideline Cancer Classic. Their opponent, 7A Starkville High School. The last time these two schools met was back in 2017 at The New Hope Classic and the Yellow Jackets dispatched the Raiders 76-50. This night was different. JA jumped out early to an 8-3 lead in just over a minute of game action. Starkville responded with an 8-0 run which was followed by a 7-0 run by JA. The two teams went back and for the remainder of the quarter and JA led 20-19 after the first frame. The middle two quarters saw JA stretch their lead to 52-41 entering the fourth quarter. Starkville was never able to get it any closer than nine as the Raiders held on for a 63-54 victory as JA continued their best start in school history with their 14th straight win. Mike Williams was named the MVP for the game as he finished with a career high 33 points as he played all 32 minutes of the contest.

The Varsity Boys and Girls will be take part in the BA$$A Holiday Invitational at Mississippi College next Saturday. Girls will play at 11:30am against Callaway while the Boys will play at 2:30pm against Pascagoula. The tournament organizer does not allow streaming so neither game will air live on The Raider Network.
