The Raiders and Lady Raiders took part in the East Webster Christmas Classic in Maben, MS in one of the more unique venues in High School Basketball. The East Webster Dome was built in 2013 after a deadly tornado destroyed much of the school forcing them to relocate to nearby Wood Junior College for two years. The gymnasium doubles as a community tornado shelter. The Lady Raiders faced Louisville High School in their first action since last Saturday as they tried to snap a three-game skid. The game started slowly as the Lady Raiders were unable to get on the scoreboard until the 4:42 mark of the first quarter and then they got rolling as they outscored the Lady Wildcats 17-8 on their way to a 36-21 halftime advantage. JA was able to add four more to their lead heading into the final frame before Louisville started pressuring the ball up the floor and climbed back into the game. The Lady Wildcats cut it to nine with just over two minutes remaining but were unable to pull of the comeback as JA held on for a 62-55 victory.

In Boys action, the Raiders also faced Louisville High School, coming off their first loss to Pascagoula last Saturday. Without Mason Williams for a second straight game, JA was locked into a first half battle leading by just two after a quarter. The Raiders extended their lead to seven at halftime. After another close quarter in the third JA would pull away winning 75-57 to get back into the win column.

The Varsity Girls and Boys will finish up action in the East Webster Christmas Classic in Maben on Friday as the Girls face Pisgah at 11:30am and the Boys take on Lafayette at 2:30pm.
