Raiders & Lady Raiders Win

Jackson Prep New Year's Hoops Bash Day 1

The Raiders and Lady Raiders continued their four week long road trip as they traveled to Flowood on Wednesday for Day 1 of the Jackson Prep New Year’s Hoops Bash to face Christian Collegiate Academy. The Lady Raiders were in search of their first three game win streak. For the second straight game they faced a team without some of their key players as the Lady Bulldogs played the same five players for the entire 32 minutes. JA raced out to a 25-3 lead and every player in a Lady Raider uniform got on the floor while 12 of those 14 players were able to contribute in the scorebook. Faith Wicks and Jayden Rhymes both finished in double figures as the Lady Raiders moved to 8-10 on the season with a dominant 66-14 victory.

In Boys action, the Raiders were looking to start the new year with another victory and continue one of the best starts in JA Boys Basketball history. After a good first quarter, the Raiders allowed the Bulldogs to feel like they were in the game in the second quarter. After a halftime speech by Coach Taylor JA came out of the halftime locker room and scored the first 19 points to put the game away and allow all of the Raiders to get on the floor en route to a 77-34 win. Mike Williams continued his assault on the all time scoring list and single season scoring list with his tenth game of 20+ points. He also finished with 6 steals, 5 assists and 4 rebounds.

The Varsity Girls and Boys will finish up action in the Jackson Prep New Year’s Hoops Bash in Flowood on Thursday as the Girls and Boys face MHEA at 2:00pm and 3:20pm.
