The Raiders and Lady Raiders continued their four week long road trip as they finished play in Flowood on Thursday in Day 2 of the Jackson Prep New Year’s Hoops Bash by taking on Memphis Home Education Association. The Lady Raiders made sure of the decision from the opening tip as they scored the first 15 points of the game and never looked back. Ella King and Gracelyn Carmichael both scored in double figures as Gracelyn secured her seventh double-double while grabbing 12 rebounds. Every Lady Raider was able to get some playing time as JA won their fourth straight game in decisive 45-28 fashion. With the victory JA moved to within one game of a .500 record at 9-10.

In Boys action, the Raiders fell behind 7-3 in the first quarter before they closed out the opening frame with a 14-4 run to lead by six at the end of the first. The Eagles fought back in the second quarter to trim the lead to two at the break. The second half was separated by three points as the two teams played a physical brand of basketball allowing for a lot of up and down the floor action. Despite giving up a 29-20 rebound advantage and 20-5 in second chance points, the Raiders held off the Eagles for a 53-48 win, as they improved their record to 18-1. Three Raiders, Mike Williams, DJ Washington and Caleb Gaitor all finished in double figures.

The Varsity Girls and Boys will finally be back at The Raider Dome as they host Starkville Academy on Saturday at 4:30pm and 6:00pm. 7th Grade Games will begin the day at 12:00pm and 1:00pm, followed by JV Games at 2:00pm and 3:15pm.
