JA Sweeps Hartfield - Griffin Scores 15


The Lady Raiders began conference play on Tuesday in Flowood as they faced off against Hartfield Academy at Joe Cole Court. The JV Girls got it started with a dominant first quarter as they raced out to a 25-4 lead and never looked back as they won 50-17 and improved to 9-4 overall and 3-0 in conference play. Mylee Maurer nearly secured a triple-double as she collected 29pts, 10 rebounds and 9 steals in JA’s continued perfect start in conference play.

In varsity action the Lady Raiders began conference play with a quick 14-5 lead and pushed it out to a 16 point lead at the end of the third quarter. JA stretched the lead to 18 on a pair of free throws from Eliza Hawkins before the Lady Hawks began a comeback bid. Hartfield went on a 11-0 run to cut the lead to seven with just over four minutes left. JA answered that run with one of their own to win their sixth straight game by a score of 51-41. With the victory JA improves to 11-10, and 1-0 in conference play.

The Lady Raiders will continue conference play Friday as they return to The Raider Dome to host Jackson Prep. JV Girls will start at 4:00pmwith varsity action scheduled for 6:30pm.
