The Raiders welcomed their longtime cross-town rival to The Raider Dome in Jackson Prep for their home conference opener on Friday. The JV Boys were looking to keep their six game win streak going and deal Prep their first loss in conference play. Prep got it started with a 12-9 lead after a quarter, but the Raiders responded to tie the game at 17-17 at halftime. In the second half, both teams scored just six in the third quarter before JA picked up a three point lead with just over a minute remaining in the game and held on for a 32-33 victory. The game featured 8 ties and 6 lead changes and saw JA improve to 14-2 overall and 3-1 in conference play. JA was led in scoring again by Parker Orr who finished with 9 points and 12 rebounds.Caden Moss added 6 points and a game high 13 rebounds for JA.

In varsity action the Raiders played in front of a packed out Raider Dome for the first time in a long time and the fans were treated to a high level basketball game. JA trailed 7-5 with a little over two minutes remaining in the opening quarter, but closed it on a 10-0 run to take an eight point lead into the second frame. JA stretched it all the way to a lead of 12 before the Patriots closed it back to eight before the break. The third featured similar runs as Prep trimmed a ten point deficit down one before Fisher Waldrop put in a layup at the buzzer on a beautiful pass from Schyler Chambers to extend it back to a 45-42 lead. In the fourth period, Prep got as close as three a number of times but each time JA had an answer and snapped a nine game losing skid to Prep. The Raiders improved to 21-1 and 2-0 in conference play.

The Raiders will first play Madison Central on Monday in the Rumble in The South before they continue conference play next Tuesday as they stay at The Raider Dome for game two of their three game homestead as they host MRA. JV Boys will start at 5:15pm with varsity action scheduled for 7:45pm.
